Quality and Outcomes Framework....

Every year medical practices throughout the country have to achieve challenging targets for patient care set by the Department of Health and this includes Vida Healthcare.

We have worked extremely hard to try and achieve these targets for patient care and we are pleased to report we have achieved the maximum points for nearly all of the 126 targets we are assessed on.

This is down to the commitment, dedication and hard work by everyone in the practice.

Most importantly this gives a good indication of the professional way we aim to care for our patients.

There are now challenges contained in the new Quality and Outcomes Framework for 2009 - 2010. These include,

  • advice on long term contraception
  • primary prevention of Cardio Vascular Disease
  • a new depression indicator on assessment of severity
  • beta blockers for heart failure
  • changes to Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes and Chronic Obstructive Pulmary Disease indicators

The teams are now considering what work is needed to achieve these so we can get an equally first class result next year.

Fund Raising - F.O.D.S

F.O.D.S - Friends of the Doctors Surgery

F.O.D.S was established in early 1991 by a number of patients who wanted to raise money for much needed medical equipment. To date (January 2009) they have spent over £56,000 on medical equipment.

To do this they organise Christmas and Easter Fayres (at the surgery),market stalls on Tuesday Market Place and attend car boots as well as other fund raising events.

The members of F.O.D.S meet the first Tuesday of every month with the exeption of January, February, and August, at Gayton Road Health Centre. These meetings are very informal and anyone is welcome to attend.

For further information, please email them on secfods@btinternet.com or contact the surgery's General Enquires on 08444 77 33 77.

Dispensary

We have a dispensary service to all our patients who live more than one mile from a chemist in the outlying villages of King's Lynn.
